The Opera Prima International Competition is one of the REC Festival’s main sections, where every year the world wide new talents that standed out the most present their first or second work, showing a panoramic of the different ways of making cinema.

The films in the REC’s competitive section are a showcase of emerging international talent. With a strong European and Latin American presence, Opera Prima also screens works from Asia, Africa or North America with the clear intention of showing a diverse and panoramic range of contemporary international cinema.

It has an International Jury that awards the Best Film Award. The Cineclubs Jury Award and the Jurat Jove Award are also awarded, the latter made up of young people up to 30 years old. Finally, the Audience Award is given, weighted by popular vote of our viewers.
