Inspired by the music and life of Robert Wyatt, “Rock Bottom” is a story of self-destructive love between Bob and Alif, a young couple of artists immersed in the creative and disruptive whirlwind of the hippie culture of the early 70s. Drugs will transform a passionate summer into a true odyssey, a journey through the themes of Wyatt’s music: the euphoria and anguish of artistic creation, the unconscious fascination with drugs, the disenchantment with routine and physical and mental degradation.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the album Rock Bottom, Maria Trénor’s debut takes us on a psychedelic journey through the artist’s mind. Featuring vibrant, experimental animation that dialogues intimately with Wyatt’s music, this film is an ode to artistic creation and a tribute to an album that has left an indelible mark on music history.
