It is refreshing to watch a film by a filmmaker who is searching for himself and who marvels at what he finds along the way. This is one of those films where freedom and the desire to move forward into the unknown prevail. And it is particularly beautiful. It reconciles us with a certain innocence in an era in which many novice filmmakers follow patterns that are too flat and self-conscious.
“Kyuka – Before the summer’s end” is a much more complex film than it appears and will not leave us indifferent. We invite you to let yourself be lulled by the waves of a sea that is more agitated than we could have imagined upon arrival.
