In a Renaissance palace, where summer seems never to end, three women live without responsibilities. An invisible presence provides everything: food, leisure and a “wellness” routine based on affirmations. There is only one rule: do not cross the wall. When the first cracks appear, a “tactile language” emerges between them (because some things cannot be spoken aloud), they begin to rehearse their own deaths and an urgent desire to escape is born. Between dormant rage and the fear of growing up, they must decide whether to break the spell… or remain in this endless summer.
Heir to the cinema of Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things), Glorious Summer reveals itself as a tale of freedom disguised as paradise, a sensorial and ethereal film with hypnotic cinematography that tests the limits of our own liberty.
