GEN REC

GEN REC

GEN REC is an initiative of the REC Festival to involve young people in the various activities of the Festival. Through GEN REC we want to get to know the youngest and help them develop their cinematographic concerns and we do this with a training program called ‘Young Programmers’ and an expansion of the Festival’s Youth Jury.

With the Young Programmers program, we invite the youngest to participate in a program of four face-to-face sessions in which they can learn, from scratch, how to think, organize and program a festival from the hands of active professionals who will show , step by step, how a festival is thought up and how the professionals do it.

The aim of the program is to convey the basic knowledge needed to know how to organize a film festival and to prepare the program also in a practical way. The program is committed to theoretical and practical training, so one of its strengths will be that the participants will design their own real programming proposal, based on the knowledge acquired during the different sessions.

Also from the 2023 edition, the REC Festival is expanding the number of places to be a Youth Jury at the festival. Young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who want to experience a film festival from the inside can be the new Youth Jury of the twenty-third edition of the REC Festival.

As members of the Young Jury, the participants will attend all the screenings of the Opera Prima section, that is, the films competing in the festival. Based on their evaluation, and with a joint final deliberation, it will be decided which proposal is deserving of the Young Jury prize.
