Four grandmothers decide to stage their own Hamlet: empowerment, fun and a pinch of magical realism to turn the neighbourhood upside down. In Brussels, Fatima, who dreams of returning to the Maghreb, sees an unexpected setback derail her plans; instead of giving up, she resurrects an old desire: to go on stage and perform Shakespeare. Her friends support her, they create a small theatre company, and rehearsal after rehearsal, their lives, and the life of the whole community, begin to change.
After his debut Les Barons, Nabil Ben Yadir teams up with his mother, Mokhtaria Badaoui, to direct their first film together. With great creative freedom, they combine comedy, drama and a touch of surrealism to tell the story of a late emancipation: these Maghrebi mothers we see every day, far from the world of cinema, here become heroines. A warm and moving tale that proves that sometimes the most unlikely stories need a little magic to be told.
