Mariano De Santis, President of Italy and a devoted Catholic, faces the end of his mandate with two moral dilemmas: whether or not to sign a euthanasia law, and whether or not to grant pardon to two people sentenced for murder. Caught between raison d’état and his private life, power becomes an exercise in conscience.
We will close the festival in style with the Tarragona premiere of La Grazia, Paolo Sorrentino’s best film since The Great Beauty. The Italian director reunites with his favourite actor, Toni Servillo, and also with his beloved and hated Rome, in a political drama full of melancholy, dry humour and a staging to be remembered.
